Abstract


สาขาวิชา biomedical informatics หรือ biomedical and health informatics (ซึ่งในอดีตนิยมเรียกว่า medical informatics หรือเวชสารสนเทศ) เป็นสาขาวิชาที่เกิดขึ้นมาไม่นานนัก และยังไม่มีบทความภาษาไทยที่แนะนำสาขาวิชานี้ให้ผู้เกี่ยวข้องเข้าใจตรงกัน บทความนี้จึงได้ทบทวนวรรณกรรมเพื่อนำเสนอที่มาและพัฒนาการของสาขาวิชานี้ในอดีต กล่าวถึงความพยายามให้ความหมายและชื่อเรียกสาขาวิชานี้โดยนักวิชาการในสาขาวิชา และสังเคราะห์เป็นข้อสรุปเกี่ยวกับตัวตนของสาขาวิชานี้ในปัจจุบัน ซึ่งกล่าวโดยสรุปคือเป็นการมุ่ง "สู่สุขภาวะด้วยสารสนเทศ" โดยหวังว่าบทความนี้จะช่วยให้ผู้สนใจสามารถทำความเข้าใจและสร้างคุณค่าให้กับสาขาวิชานี้และระบบสุขภาพได้ดียิ่งขึ้น
